Gartner Symposium IT Xpo 2015. The future of Digital Business


Gartner Symposium ITXpo2015, the most important annual gathering of CIOs and senior IT leaders, took place in Barcelona from 8th to 12th November.
This year’s topic is a call to action for the CIO “to Rise to the Challenge” and be a proactive contributor to business growth.

The topics of Gartner Symposium/ITxpo were: CIO Leadership, Internet of Things (IoT), risk management and security, all necessary components of the new digital workplace, strategic technology Trends for 2016, tools and insight required to lead IT in 2016.

Peter Sondergaard, senior vice president and global head of research at Gartner, in his speech “Welcome to the Algorithmic Economy” showed through Gartner data that companies are taking advantage of the IoT opportunity. Next year, spending on the Internet of Things (IoT) will exceed $2.5 million dollars per minute.

Sondergaard has explained that these interconnections are creating billions of new relationships. These relationships are not driven solely by data, but algorithms that turn that data into actions and impact customers.

Mr. Sondergaard said: “Algorithms are where the real value lies. Algorithms define action. Dynamic algorithms are the core of new customer interactions.”

During the event, 140 analysts have been on site discussing about business growth:

Darlyl C. Plummer Vice President & Gartner Fellow, explained how the future can become Digital.

While, Mark Raskino, Vice President and Gartner Fellow, gave CIOs specific advice points that are based on the analysis of trends in the priorities, concerns and attitudes of CEOs.

Nick Jones VP Distinguished Analyst, illustrated The Mobile Scenario, the technology and market trends through the Business Innovation of the Mobile + IoT and to the wearables that are so “Much More Than Smart Watches”.
